The weekend saw indigenous Nigerian publisher, Parrésia Publishers Ltd, hold its “Excuse Us!” event at the Patabah Bookstore, Shoprite Mall, Surulere, Lagos. The occasion saw the public release of a new book, Excuse Me!, released under its traditional model publishing Parrésia imprint. It would be recalled that a sign-on ceremony was carried out at Debonair Bookstore, Yaba, Lagos in June 2012.
Other authors signed on for the Dry Season Book Release Window [November to May] are Helon Habila for his Oil on Water [Parrésia imprint] and Tanimu Sule Lagi for a crime fiction, The BOFAK Illusion, on the self-publishing Origami imprint. Helon Habila and Victor Ehikhamenor join Abubakar Adam Ibrahim and Emmanuel Iduma, who were signed on in February 2012, on the Parrésia imprint.
The “Excuse Us!” event, held on the 1st of December, saw readings by Parrésia authors Victor Ehikhamenor and Emmanuel Iduma. There was also a Q & A and a book signing session. It was well attended by the Lagos City glitterati including Pearl Osibu, Toni Kan, Femke van Ziejl, Toyin Akinosho and many others from outside the state, such as Chuma Nwokolo, publisher of the African Writing journal.
