Press Release: Artmosphere June 21, 2014
ARTMOSPHERE is a uniquely new platform for the revival of a vibrant reading culture and the promotion of creative expressions in literature, music and the arts amongst the nation’s teeming young population. Incorporating the classic ideals of artistic erudition with the innovations of performance practice and contemporary culture, ARTMOSPHERE offers an eclectic mix of creative dexterity from leading and emerging culture practitioners in Nigeria. Book readings, poetry performances, music renditions and mini art exhibitions are creatively fused together to make each edition a memory to be relished.
The June 21, 2014 edition will play host to renowned Journalist and Writer, Molara Wood. The evening will commence at 2pm with readings from her collection of short stories, Indigo. This will be followed by an interactive session centred on the backstories behind the book and her knowledge of the creative process with a view to encourage the development of young emerging writers as well as a book signing session.
The June edition of Artmosphere will hold by 2PM on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the NuStreams Conference Centre, KM 110, Iyaganku Road, off Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan. Guest of the Month
Molara Wood is a journalist, critic and a former art columnist for The Guardian Newspapers, Lagos. Her work has been published in journals and anthologies including Farafina Magazine, BBC Africa Beyond, Chimurenga and African Literature Today. She won the inaugural John La Rose Memorial Short Story Competition and received an award from the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association. Formerly Arts and Culture Editor of NEXT Newspapers, she lives in Abuja and is working on her first novel.
Her collection of short stories, Indigo, was published in 2013 by Parrésia Books.
